February is one of the best months to visit the Disneyland Resort. The weather is mild, hotel prices are a little lower and the lines are shorter. With that said, there are a few things to consider if you plan to visit Disneyland in February. In this post, I’ll cover six things you should consider when planning to visit Disneyland in February. Disneyland Crowds in February 2019

A February Calendar with colorful Mickey Mouse Heads to represent how crowded Disneyland is each day.

Crowds in February are among the lowest of the year, which is why it is one of my favorite times to visit Disneyland. Generally, the weekends will be a little busier than weekdays, but the crowds are still manageable. How fun would it be to spend Valentine’s Day at the Disneyland Resort? Be sure to check out my post, The BEST Days to Visit Disneyland in 2018 for a yearly crowd calendar.

Average Weather at Disneyland in February

The weather at Disneyland in February is actually pretty pleasant. The average high during the day is in the upper 60s or low 70s. At night, the low is generally in the upper 40s or low 50s. There a usually a few rainy days and there will be some days that are cloudy, but it is winter after all. Plan on warm days and cool nights. Check out the weather forecast for February 2019 here!

What to Pack for Disneyland in February

Knowing what to pack in February at Disneyland is important. You don’t want to be unprepared and end up having to use your vacation budget on things that could easily have been brought from home with a little planning. Make sure you check out my post on How Amazon Can Save You Money at Disney and The Top 10 Disney Park Bag Essentials to help you when you pack. Below you’ll find few things you might want to consider packing if you’ll be traveling to Disneyland in February.

An Umbrella or Poncho & Stroller Protection

Although the weather forecast for Disneyland in February usually only calls for a few days of rain, we all know that the weather is unpredictable. Be prepared with a small travel umbrella or a poncho. A poncho can also come in handy to wear on rides like Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Run to keep your clothes dry. You’ll also need to think about keeping your stroller dry if you have one. For some strollers you can buy covers that are specifically made for them, but those can be expensive. I like to buy a shower curtain liner from Dollar Tree and use cloths pins to hold in place over the stroller. It costs $2.00 and works like a champ!

Sun Protection

The California sun can be brutal, even in the winter months. Make sure that you are ready for the UV rays by packing some sunblock and a hat, and sunglasses. Also, make sure your kids are protected too.  Nothing ruins a magical vacation like a sunburn!

A Travel Blanket

travel blanket is also a good idea to bring along to Disneyland in February. Not only will it keep you warm on those chilly February Disneyland nights, but it can also serve another purpose. It can be a great to sit on while watching a parade or fireworks show.

Pack for both Warm and Cold Weather

The mornings and evenings at Disneyland can be pretty chilly, but the days will be warm. This makes packing clothing for Disneyland in February a little tricky. Pack jeans or long pants to stay warm and comfortable during the cooler temperatures. Wear a short-sleeved top and bring a lightweight jacket or sweater that can be kept in a backpack or worn around your waist during the day.

Pack Adorable Disney Apparel

Disneyland Ride Closures

The downside with visiting Disneyland during one of the slower months, is that there are generally more ride closures than other times of the year. Because of this, it’s important to stay up to date with ride closures by checking Disneyland’s website. Disneyland seems to update their list one to two months ahead of time, so check back in December or January.

Disneyland Ticket Savings in February

There aren’t a lot of Disneyland ticket savings out there, but they can be found if you know where to look. Make sure that if you buy Disney tickets from a third party, that they are an authorized ticket seller. I usually buy my park tickets from Get Away Today. Their ticket prices are almost always a few dollars cheaper than Disneyland’s gate prices.

4 Comments on Disneyland in February: What to Expect

    • There isn’t a specific date for the Train and the Sailing Ship Columbia. All I’ve seen is that they hope it will open sometime in 2017.

  1. I have a 3 and 4 year old and would love to see the fireworks. They are typically asleep by 7:30-8 and we will from Boston. So not sure how to handle time zones. I’m thinking it’s a long shot at this point. Any tips?

    • I would definitely try to take a break/nap during the day. That’s what I have always done with little kids and it seems to help them stay awake later so they are able to see the fireworks. I would also have a rest day from the parks the day after they stay up late. Hope that helps!
