Ingredients to make Dump & Bake Meatball Casserole.

Ingredients

*Ingredient amounts are located in the recipe card at the end of this post.

  • Marinara Sauce (1 jar) – The rich, tomato-based base of the casserole that brings all the flavor. Use your favorite brand for the best taste since it really shines in this recipe.
  • Water – Mixed with the marinara sauce, this helps cook the pasta right in the baking dish so there’s no need to boil it separately.
  • Frozen Meatballs – The hearty, protein-packed star of the dish. No need to thaw — they cook perfectly in the oven while soaking up all that saucy goodness.
  • Uncooked Pasta (Rotini or Penne) – These sturdy pasta shapes hold onto the sauce beautifully and cook right in the casserole, making this truly a dump-and-bake meal.
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese – Melts into that gooey, bubbly top layer everyone loves. It adds creaminess and that classic cheesy pull.
  • Shredded Parmesan Cheese – Brings a salty, slightly nutty flavor that boosts the overall richness of the casserole.
  • Italian Seasoning – A blend of herbs like oregano, basil, and thyme that adds classic Italian-inspired flavor throughout the dish.
  • Garlic Powder – A simple way to deepen the savory flavor and give the casserole that warm, comforting taste without extra prep.

How to Make Dump and Go Meatball Casserole

[Step 1] Spray a 9x13 baking dish nonstick cooking spray. Add the jar of marinara sauce, 3 cups of water, ½ teaspoon of Italian Seasoning and ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder to the dish and stir to mix.

[Step 4] Bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

How to Store Leftovers

Store any leftover meatball casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

When you’re ready to reheat, you can warm individual portions in the microwave in 30–60 second intervals until heated through.

If you’re reheating a larger amount, cover it with foil and bake in the oven at 350°F until hot and bubbly. If the pasta has absorbed some of the sauce, just add a splash of water or marinara before reheating to bring it back to that saucy, cheesy goodness.
