Magic Kingdom Genie+ and Lightning Lane Rides
The introduction of Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane, there have been a lot of growing pains. This system is similar to the old Fastpass+ system, but definitely has some changes. To find out more about this new way of visiting Magic Kingdom and Disney Worlds other parks, read my article here.

So how many rides are there at Disney’s Magic Kingdom? By my count there are 25, definitely enough to take up at least one day, if not two. Below is a guide for all of the rides at Magic Kingdom including their location, height requirements, and whether they are eligible for Disney Genie+ or Lightning Lane.
Astro Orbiter
Have you ever wanted to pilot your own space shuttle? Take a ride on the Astro Orbiter. This attraction is great for families and guests of all ages. I recommend riding this at night, because it gives you a great view of Disney’s Magic Kingdom, all lit up!

Who Should Ride: Anyone
Genie+ or Lightning Lane: No
Big Thunder Mountain
Take a ride on the “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness”! This rollercoaster ride is themed after a train ride through a gold mine in the old west. This is not a slow, leisurely train ride though. You will definitely travel quickly over hills and twist and turn around corners. Its definitely a must for older kids, teenagers, and grown ups!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
This is a great ride for the entire family! It is a slow moving ride where you fire a laser at different targets to try and defeat the evil Emperor Zurg.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Find out what it is like to soar through the sky while riding in everyone’s favorite elephant, Dumbo! This ride spins in a circle and has a lever for the rider to control going up and down.

Haunted Mansion
This is a dark ride with lots of classic Disney spooks and scares! It’s a great ride for all ages, but it might be too scary for younger kids. If your child doesn’t like the dark or loud noise, this may not be the best choice for them.

A slow moving boat ride featuring characters from all over the world singing and upbeat song, “it’s a small world”. This attraction is fun for all ages.

Jungle Cruise
The jungle cruise is a slow moving boat ride through the jungles of Asia, Africa, and South America. It is great for families and guests of all ages. The best part of the ride are the skippers that drive the boats. Their jokes are hilarious!

Liberty Square Riverboat
Take a slow cruise around the Rivers of America on the Liberty Square Riverboat. This is fun attraction to ride when lines are long at the more popular rides. It is great for guests of all ages.

Mad Tea Party
Riding the Mad Tea Party puts you right in the middle of the Alice in Wonderland movie! You will spin and spin inside a teacup. You can control the amount spinning in your particular teacup. If you are prone to motion sickness, you might want to skip this ride.

Main Street Vehicles
Cruise down Main Street in a horse drawn carriage, trolley, or fire truck. This is one of the most relaxing rides at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It is great for guests of all ages.

Peter Pan’s Flight
One of Disney’s most beloved rides, you can take a trip through the skies of Neverland on Peter Pan’s Flight. This is a great ride for kids and adults alike.

Pirates of the Caribbean
This is a slow moving boat ride that takes you through the world of pirates. You will see pirates attacking a village, looting and pillaging, and even chasing after some unlucky damsels. This is a great ride for all ages, but if you have a child that is sensitive to these types of rides, you might want to skip it. Beware that there is also a small drop where the boat goes down a hill.

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
This is a great ride for all ages. You can hop on a horse and go for a spin around the carousel. Some of the horses even go up and down.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
This is a smooth family friendly roller coaster that takes you through the mines of the seven dwarfs. It is a great ride for older kids, tweens, teens, and adults.

Space Mountain
This is a high speed roller coaster in the dark. You can’t see what is coming and you will be rocketing around in the pitch black. This ride may not be suitable for younger kids or guests who have a tendency to get motion sickness.

Who Should Ride: Older Kids, Tweens, Teens, Adults
Genie+ or Lightning Lane: Yes (Genie+ unitl 8/7/22 when it will become an Individual Lightning Lane)
Splash Mountain
This is a thrill log flume ride suitable for all ages of riders. You will take a long dark flume ride through the mountains and end with a big splash! Younger kids might get scared on this ride, so you should use caution before bringing your little one aboard.

The Barnstormer
This ride is appropriate for younger kids. You will take a short and sweet little roller coaster ride with Goofy. It is not very intense or scary, so it’s perfect for the little ones!

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
This is a great ride for all ages. You can fly around on a magic carpet and see all of the sights of Adventureland. This is a great ride for kids who are scared of heights, as it is not very high off the ground.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
This is a great ride for all ages. You can take a slow moving ride through the Hundred Acre Wood and see all of your favorite characters from the Winnie the Pooh stories. This is a great ride for younger kids or guests who don’t like rides that are too intense.

Tom Sawyer Island
This is a great attraction for the whole family. You will set sail on a raft and head over to Tom Sawyer Island, where you can explore the island’s sights and sounds on your own! This is a fun adventure for all ages, but it does take some time to get through.
