What is Butterbeer?

Butterbeer is a fictitious drink that first appeared in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books and movies. The taste of Butterbeer varies depending on who’s making it, but some common ingredients are cream soda, butter-flavored syrup, and marshmallow fluff.

You can get many different forms of famous Harry Potter Butterbeer when you visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando.

I’ve had classic Butterbeer, Hot Butterbeer, Frozen Butterbeer, and Butterbeer ice cream! I’ve even created a recipe for Butterbeer cupcakes that you can find here.

What is a Starbucks Butterbeer Frappuccino?

The Starbucks Butterbeer Frappuccino is a fan-created beverage that starts with a creme Frappuccino base of the drink and combines the flavors of Butterscotch and Caramel.

It tastes like a creamy, sweet, and slightly salty dessert! It’s definitely not an exact replica of Butterbeer from Harry Potter, but it’s still delicious enough to make you feel magical! Try this delicious drink with these Better Than Starbucks Egg Bites for the perfect combination!

Ice: Use your favorite type of cubed ice. You will need about one cup.

MIlk: Whole milk is recommended to make a Frappuccino, just like Starbucks.

Ice Cream: For a creamy Frappuccino, three scoops of vanilla bean ice cream is recommended.

Vanilla Extract or Vanilla Bean Paste: Use either half a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a quarter teaspoon of paste for the best flavor.

Caramel Syrup & Toffee Syrup: You’ll need 1-2 pumps of caramel and toffee syrup for the Butterbeer flavor. I found these syrups at my local grocery store, but you can also purchase them on Amazon.

Whipped Cream, optional: Topping with whipped cream is not necessary but makes it even more delicious.

Caramel Sauce, optional: Drizzling some caramel sauce or butterscotch sauce inside of the cup or on top of the whipped cream gives your Frappuccino a nice finishing touch.
