Helpful Kitchen Tools

Dairy Free Dole Whip

By substituting traditional vanilla ice cream with alternatives like coconut or almond milk ice cream, you invite a tropical breeze into your kitchen without compromising on the creamy texture that defines the Dole pineapple whip.

For a true Dole Whip experience reminiscent of the aloha isle in Disneyland park, ensure your blender is ready to smoothen the frozen pineapple chunks into the silky soft-serve ice cream you adore. The secret to achieving the coveted creamy texture with a dairy-free twist lies in the power of your blend and the quality of your alternative ice cream choice.

Embracing these dairy-free alternatives not only brings a piece of Disney magic into your homemade version but also caters to a wider audience, ensuring everyone can indulge in this frozen treat.

Recipe Tips

  • If you want a purely authentic version, make sure to use your favorite non dairy ice cream. We like coconut milk ice cream and almond milk ice cream.
  • You’ll want to make sure that you use a powerful blender and blend thoroughly to avoid having pineapple chunks, unless that’s what you want 😉 The homemade Dole Whip will be really thick.
  • The recipe below is for 1 serving. I tripled it when I made it and it was more than enough for the 5 of us.
  • I probably would only double the recipe next time, as it was hard for the blender, even my powerful Ninja, to get all of the pineapple chunks.
  • If you want your treat to have the to have the look of the standard swirl of the soft-serve that you can purchase at Disney, add your Dole Whip to a large piping bag, fitted with a large star tip. Place the piping bag in the freezer for about 30 minutes, then swirl in an ice cream dish.
  • You can also make my favorite, a Dole Whip Float, by adding it to a tall milkshake glass and adding some reserved pineapple juice!
  • To take it up another notch, add a cute paper umbrella or a fun paper straw. If you’re going to make this at home, you’d might as well go for the gold!
