  • Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix – The rich, fudgy base of the recipe that pairs perfectly with coconut. I used Ghirardelli brand.
  • Water, Oil, and Eggs – The classic add-ins to bring your boxed brownie mix to life.
  • Shredded Coconut – Brings that chewy, tropical texture that makes these taste just like the candy bar.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk – Mixed with the coconut to create a luscious, creamy layer.
  • Pre-made Dark Chocolate Frosting – A quick and easy way to add a smooth, chocolatey finish on top.

How to Make Mounds Brownies

[Step 1] Prepare and bake the brownies according to the package directions.

[Step 2] In a bowl, mix together the coconut and sweetened condensed milk. Spread evenly over the warm brownies.

[Step 3] Microwave the frosting at 50% power in 20 second intervals until pourable. Pours the frosting over the top of the brownies and refrigerate until set. Cut into bars.

Tips & Tricks

  • Line your pan – Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean slices.
  • Don’t overbake – Check the brownies a few minutes early; fudgy is better than dry.
  • Cool completely before frosting – This keeps the frosting from melting into the coconut layer.
  • Toast the coconut (optional) – For extra flavor and a slight crunch, lightly toast some of the coconut before mixing it in.
  • Chill before slicing – Refrigerating the brownies for 30–60 minutes makes for cleaner cuts.
