Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup Butter softened
  • 2 Cups White Sugar divided
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • ½ Teaspoon Almond Extract optional

Instructions

  • Chewy Sugar Cookies
  • Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to a mixing bowl and set aside. 
  • Place the softened butter and 1 ½ cups sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter and sugar and mix.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the cookie dough.
  • Using a medium cookie scoop (about 2 tablespoons) scoop out the dough and roll it into a ball with your hands.
  • Place the cookie dough ball into a bowl with the other ½ cup of sugar and completely coat.
  • Put the cookie dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat about 2 inches apart. Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to stay on the pan for 1-2 minutes. Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and allow them to completely cool.
