Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef or Ground Sausage
  • 1 Teaspoon Italian Seasoning
  • ½ Teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ Teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Jar Marinara Sauce
  • 1 8 Ounce Block Cream Cheese
  • 1 Package Tortellini about 20 ounces
  • 8 Ounces Mozzarella Cheese shredded

Instructions

  • Over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef or Italian style sausage in an oven-safe skillet with a little olive oil and season with Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Drain the meat.
  • Add the marinara sauce and cream cheese to the large skillet and heat over medium heat until the cream cheese has fully melted.
  • While the cream cheese is melting, boil a pot of water and cook the tortellini al dente according to the package directions. Drain.
  • Add the cooked tortellini to the sauce and stir to combine.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over the top of the tortellini and sauce and bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
  • Serve with your favorite side salad and garlic bread.

Notes

  • If you're not a fan of spicy food, reduce the amount of red pepper flakes in the recipe.
  • To make this recipe vegetarian, omit the ground beef or sausage and add extra vegetables to the sauce such as mushrooms, spinach, bell peppers, etc.
  • For an even cheesier dish, sprinkle some Parmesan cheese over the top before baking.
  • For a crunchy topping, add some panko bread crumbs and/or shredded cheese over the top of the dish before baking.
  • If your cream cheese has been in the refrigerator for too long and won't melt easily, try heating it in the microwave first so you can stir it into the sauce more easily.
  • For an extra creamy dish, stir in some ricotta cheese before baking.
  • If you don't have an oven-safe skillet, transfer the pasta to a casserole dish before adding the mozzarella cheese.
